Djambies (friends) in a Box

Challenge your unconcious bias. Create Change.

Djambies means friends in the Gunaikurnai language.

Djambies In a Box offers all Australians the chance to authentically understand and reflect on the Culture of our First Nations People, along with the diversity of issues they face. Our subscription boxes deliver a variety of incredible products and produce from First Nations Owned Businesses that invite you to be part of the solution for a more just society.

Our boxes are supported by amazing products from Aboriginal owned Business or items that are from a non-Aboriginal owned business that collaborate and pay fair royalties to First Nations collaborators and businesses.

Our Yarn starter is here to get you started on your Allyship journey.

Start your journey with us to challenge your unconscious bias towards First Nations People of Australia. Become an Ally and strong Anti-racist, by walking this Journey together.

Why a Yarn Starter?

To have a Yarn is to have a informal chat with your family, friends or other community members. Yarn is used by many First Nations people and can be used by non First Nations people in a positive way as well. Yarn is spoken in a positive manner and it is certainly a word you will hear across Australia.
For many people who are learning about First Nations people, culture and histories, it is the first time they are hearing truth. For centuries, truth has not been the focus of the narrative and now that it is, people need to process it and yarning (real talk) is a great to support this. A good yarn shares ideas, points of view, and experience. A good yarn gives people the opportunity to explore concepts, to challenge ideas and to resolve uncertainty about their thoughts.

Djambies in a Box acknowledges the traditional owners and the Elders, past, present and future. We pay our respects to our ancestors before us and for all they have fought for. We acknowledge the harm that has occurred to the traditional lands and we will continue to work towards a future where our lands and people are healed. We also acknowledge other First Nations people from across the world.
